By Mia Anderson

Committing theology to poetry isn't really new, yet it is not wildly universal. The dawn Liturgy goals to do exactly that. it's a series, like liturgy, with a commence and a procession and a end. The sunlight does the processing, and the play on sunlight and Son isn't faraway from sight. dawn offers the cantus firmus to this theological subject matter and adaptations, the place the going is through turns effortless, by means of turns thickly polyphonic--take a deep breath! The cantus firmus shifts from voice to voice, disappearing, in the direction of year's finish, past the audible variety of human mortals. yet there are different mortals during this procession of the 12 months, "acolytes of the Holy Impotence," and below and beside and during all of it flows the St. Lawrence River, le fleuve, winding around the web page, a tidal presence immediately average and mystical. As are the snow ducks. As is the heron. there's an try and strive against with a reputable theodicy, specially environmental. there's a profound penchant for the eremitic, with nods to The Cloud of Unknowing and Gregory of Nyssa. And continually there's the priestly experience of "performance," enactment, and Eucharist, for it is a priest talking.

"The dawn Liturgy does what it says at the conceal: it's a liturgical social gathering of sunrise. that's, it is going yet again and back the type of switch new day is--materially and spiritually--and makes us individuals during this occasion that makes the whole international glance diversified. it's continuously staggering and intensely appealing . . . it really is by means of turns packed with a Joycean exuberance and a rare stillness. . . fascinating poetry, not easy and enlarging."

"Here is whatever true--steadying, vivifying. I felt lifted and anchored by means of the interpreting. [Anderson's] specific narrative leaps, her metaphoric audacity, the sleek flexibility of her poetic brain lead us right into a sensibility which quantities to a trued world."

"In a global filled with voices wanting to inform, to put fact out for obedient intake, how clean the buoyant, evocative, teasing, playful--and serious--voice of The dawn Liturgy. Spending time in those pages is like spending Saturday afternoon with a fearless child."

"The liturgists of construction, from St Francis to Thomas Traherne, have continuously been a minority Magnificat. . . right here Mia Anderson joins their throng, introduces environmentalists to the liturgical yr, demanding situations churchy believers with the swoops of a heron, and juxtaposes modern idiom with echoes deeply textured within the Christian culture. The positive membranes among poetry and prayer, prophecy and play, notion and percussion turn into invisible. God's grandeur is alive once again as she hovers at the wind of the Spirit."
--Samuel Wells

‘’This publication of exclusive, looking and lyrical poems is as regards to a brand new mystic theology…. (it is) allusive, discovered, exquisitely finished in its weaving of sound, suffused with a visionary and rapturous experience of nature, but wryly playful at issues… Compelling circulate, transparent pictures anchored in language and state of affairs, the poems jump from position to concept, from inspiration to motion, from motion to repose.’’
